Ingredients
  

For Dough:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
For Filling:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chili flakes optional
For Topping:
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
  1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead into soft dough.
  3. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
Step 2: Make the Filling
  1. Heat a pan and cook the ground beef until browned.
  2. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
  3. Mix in tomato paste and spices.
  4. Let it cool slightly, then add cheese.
Step 3: Assemble
  1. Divide the dough into portions and roll into circles.
  2. Add filling in center.
  3. Fold and seal edges tightly.
Step 4: Bake
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush with egg wash.
  3. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill, or they may burst
  • Seal edges tightly using a fork
  • Let filling cool before stuffing
  • Use parchment paper for best results
